Extend your professional scope and become a Forest Therapy Guide (FTG) certified by and accredited with the Australasian Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance (ANFTA) (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG53218). ANFTA-Certified FTGs perform a vital role in preventive and therapeutic medicine. The training is suited for medical practitioners, psychotherapists or environmental experts who are active in clinics, spas, specialized resorts, hotels and wellness centers, in Government departments, organisations, companies or running their own practice. ANFTA’s training adheres to the International Core Curriculum for Forest Therapy (ICCFT) validated by experts from over 20 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Australia in 2017. The overall duration of the ANFTA FTG training is six months and comprises of:
- compact introductory workshop (40 hrs over five days)
- theoretical and practical training (248 hrs over five months)
- theoretical and practical examination (8 hrs over two days)
The five-day workshop will be conducted at the beautifully located Pallotti College, nestled away from the hustle and bustle near Warburton, Victoria. The training location comprises nearly 200 hectares of private land and forest, ideal for FTG training. The nearby unique and scenic Redwood Forest at the Yarra River, the Rainforest Gallery and O’Shannassy Aqueduct offer the finest of Forest Therapy trails in Australia, perfectly suited for a professional, secluded and effective FTG training.
The next ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training (Professional Training Course Code: HLTFTG53218) is scheduled to begin 12 September 2018. It is open to national and international applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are 12 exclusive training places available. The language of instruction is English.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor degree in any discipline or at least three years of relevant work experience (or part-time equivalent). This is required due to the nature and responsibilities of Forest Therapy Guides who have to be capable of leading diverse groups of people outdoors at different biospheres and locations. Also, a current Wilderness First Aid certificate is compulsory for each FTG trainee (which may be acquired prior to the final exam).
The total costs for the six-months ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training amount to only AUD 6,000, payable in two installments. A down-payment of AUD 3,000 is to be made once the application is accepted, while the remaining AUD 3,000 are due prior to 15 August 2018. The costs include all lessons of instructions (compact introductory workshop, online training, mentoring sessions/teleconferencing), a copy of the comprehensive ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training Manual, access to ANFTA’s online database (which contains several hundred research papers, brochures and books), the theoretical and final exam and, upon successful completion of the course, the ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training Certificate. The costs also cover full board and single-room accommodation during the compact introductory workshop at Pallotti College as well as FREE accreditation with ANFTA for a period of six months immediately after becoming a Certified Forest Therapy Guide!
The ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training utilizes the latest international research and focusses on the evidence-based aspects of this Public Health practice. The ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training is delivered by experienced and Certified Forest Therapy Guides, dedicated mentors and lecturers (all having tertiary degrees and specialized in their subject area). The ANFTA Forest Therapy Guide Training is quality-controlled and monitored by Dr Dieter Kotte, Secretary of the ANFTA, who – among other qualifications – holds a PhD in International Comparative Education from the University of Hamburg, Germany.
